10-16-1997 -- A military jet crashed near the intersection of I-675 and I-70 shortly after takeoff from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The pilot ejected safely and was credited with steering the jet towards an open field before ejecting. No one was injured.
11-7-1997 -- The Clinton Administration said it will use military force against Iraq if necessary if Saddam Hussein continues to forbid U.S. representatives of a U.N. inspection team from entering the country.
11-19-1997 -- Iowa resident Bobbi McCaughey gave birth to septuplets. 12-21-1997 -- An elderly East Dayton couple, Delmer Unum, 77, and Helen Unum, 70, were found shot to death in their home at 3909 Kittyhawk Drive. Authorities later arrested the couple's grandson, Dion Sanders, 22.
