Jerri McGill Jerrie McGill was named superintendent of Dayton Public Schools on Aug. 6, 1999, succeeding James A. Williams, who was removed by the school board in the wake of a financial crisis.McGill, then 62, was an educational consultant at the time of her appointment. She had earlier been assistant superintendent in Dayton from 1988 to 1992, and had been a finalist for the top post in 1991 when Williams was chosen. The board chose McGill in a 6-0 vote over deputy superintendent Ann Levett-Lowe. She was given a one-year contract with a salary of $96,000. McGill has a Ph.D from Ohio State University and a divinity degree from Payne Theological Seminary. |
