Kathy Hollingsworth became president and chief executive officer of National City Bank in Dayton on June 1, 1998, becoming the only female chief executive of a Miami Valley regional bank. Hollingsworth was appointed to the top spot after her predecessor, Fred Schantz, took a similar position at National City Bank of Kentucky. A native of Bowling Green, Hollingsworth joined National City in 1974 as a branch manager. The bank brought her to Dayton in 1985 to run its corporate banking group. She holds an undergraduate degree in urban geography from Wittenberg University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve. In 1988 she joined the board of County Corp., a non profit agency which provides housing for low income families. She became chairwoman of that organization in 1997. |
