WSU'S FLACK HAS FAMOUS MUSICAL COUSIN

Harley Flack gave his first musical performance at the age of 3. He has served as church organist and choir director for 30 years and completed his first album, The Goree Suite, in 1992.

But his musical accomplishments take second place to those of his cousin.

Yes, Flack is related to Roberta Flack, of the Killing Me Softly with His Song fame. They are either second or third cousins, Harley Flack said.

And the familial link apparently will pay off for WSU later this year. Roberta has tentatively agreed to perform here in October, when Flack is formally inaugurated. The date has not been set.
