The Downtown Dayton Partnership is a public/private nonprofit organizationcreated in 1991 to attract and retain downtown businesses. In 1995 it hadan operating budget of $962,500 and 10 employees.
The partnership receives about $200,000 a year in grants and tax revenuesfrom the City of Dayton.
In 1995 Dayton City Commission created a Special Improvement District to tax downtown property owners to support the partnership over a six-year period. The district is expected to generate $4 million through the year 2000, when it may be renewed.
