Tom Archdeacon has been the Sports Feature Columnist for the Dayton Daily News since January 1989. Before that he had a 15-year career as a columnist and sports writer with the now-defunct Miami News. His career began in 1973 as a sportswriter, then sports editor, with the South Dade News Leader in Homestead, Florida.

Archdeacon is a graduate of Ottoville (Ohio) High School and the University of Dayton, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1972.

Archdeacon also worked as an English teacher at South Dade High School in Homestead, Florida. He was born October 10, 1950.

During his career, Archdeacon has won numerous state and national awards for his work in and out of sports. In 1982, the University of Dayton awarded him its Special Achievement Award.
