The Doubletree Dayton hotel

In November 1998 the Doubletree Dayton Downtown opened for guests after a $14 million renovation of the 12-story, 185-room hotel at Third and Ludlow streets in Downtown Dayton.
First opened in 1898 as the Algonquin Hotel, it later became the Gibbons Hotel and then the Dayton Inn. It was the Radisson Inn & Suites in 1997 when the building was purchased by City Hotels USA, owner of the Doubletree chain.  In July 1997 the hotel was closed for an extensive renovation, which included stripping the modern facade to reveal the original limestone masonry.
