The StarFiles Blog

By 2010, I was no longer running the daily online news team (a post I had asked to be taken off of) and for a few years had been using the Caspio system to make interactive databases. But I kept also trying to do something with historical content and managed to finagle myself a blog. I only had it for a couple of months, but during that time I posted something every day (even weekends) to keep it fresh. One thing I liked about the blog format was that it accepted any valid HTML and so I could place images however I wanted (which was no longer possible in the rest of the site).

I knew at the time that there was a new upgrade coming for IndyStar's corporate "Saxotech" system and I was afraid that when it came it would undo my custom coding, which it did. In anticipation for that, I made screenshots of the 60 or so blog posts I had made so far. When the upgrade rolled out, it was as I'd feared and now there was only one image spot for each post, and the image would always be the same size and in the same location. I was so annoyed by the regimented new system that I stopped doing the blog. In retrospect, I probably should not have made that decision, but I did.

I didn't know it at the time, but I was at this point about a year away from being laid off. I had, of course, squirreled away my screenshots and other epherma from my various failed efforts, but somehow most of them were lost. I do have these, however:
