The StarFiles Blog

Although I wrote historical articles periodically throughout my years at The Star, there was a brief period in 2010 when I did so in the form of a daily local history blog. By this point, our online publishing system had gotten pretty rigid structurally, but the blog format still allowed for ad hoc html for freer design options.

I knew at the time that there was a new upgrade coming for IndyStar's corporate "Saxotech" system, and I was afraid that when it came, it would undo my custom coding. When the upgrade rolled out, it was as I'd feared, and now there was only one image spot for each post, and the image would always be the same size and in the same location. I was so annoyed by the regimented new system that I stopped doing the blog and went back to the standard article format.

During that period, I posted about 60 blog posts and kept screenshots of them all, but over the years have lost track of most of them. Here are the ones that survive:
