The youngest of the three Chevrolet brothers, French-born Gaston won the 1920 Indianapolis 500 driving a Frontenac designed and built by oldest brother, Louis.

Seven months later, Gaston Chevrolet was killed in a racing accident in California. He is buried at the Holy Cross and Saint Joseph Cemetery in Indianapolis with two his brothers.
