Irish-American Jimmy Murphy won the race in a car he called the Murphy Special.

It had a Duesenberg body but the engine was a straight-8 Miller, and was the fastest car on the track that year, setting a race speed record of 94.48 mph.

Of the rest of the top ten finishers, seven were Duesenbergs.
