Facts on File

  The CD version of Facts on File enables you to search multiple years at a time (going back to 1980).

  The CD is updated quarterly. For more current entries, see the paper reports which are still received in the library.

To access it:

  As with most other CDs you need to install software the first time you use it.

The first time:

  • Select Library CDs from the Chooser in MacZone.
  • Select FOF_EPS from the list of options within Library CDs.
  • After the FOF icon appears on your desktop, double-click on it to open it.
  • Double-click on the Installer icon to install the software on your mac.

  • To simplify later connections, after you have installed the software on your mac, locate it and make an alias of the software and put it in a convenient location, such as in your launcher or under Apple Menu items.

    Next time:

      If you already have the software installed, the steps needed to access the CD are simpler:

  • Select Library CDs from the Chooser in MacZone.
  • Select FOF_EPS from the list of options within Library CDs.
  • After the FOF icon appears on your screen, double-click on the alias of the software which you installed earlier.

      The basic search window, left, lets you combine search terms. Results appear in a directory as shown below.
