Jerri McGill
-- Dayton Schools Superintendent

Jerrie McGill was named superintendent of Dayton Public Schools on Aug. 6, 1999, succeeding James A. Williams, who was removed by the school board in the wake of a financial crisis.
McGill, then 62, was an educational consultant at the time of her appointment. She had earlier been assistant superintendent in Dayton from 1988 to 1992, and had been a finalist for the top post in 1991 when Williams was chosen.
The board chose McGill in a 6-0 vote over deputy superintendent Ann Levett-Lowe. She was given a one-year contract with a salary of $96,000.
McGill has a Ph.D from Ohio State University and a divinity degree from Payne Theological Seminary.
