Matt Hall (1981-1996)
-- late son of U.S. Rep. Tony Hall

  After a four-year struggle with leukemia, Matt Hall died at the age of 15 on July 12, 1996. He was the son of Dayton's congressman, Rep. Tony P. Hall.
  Matt Hall was diagnosed in 1992 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and spent much of his last four years in hospitals. Although his cancer went into remission following a bone marrow transplant in 1994, it later returned.
  Matt Hall came from a well-known Dayton family. In addition to his congressman father, Matt's grandfather, Dave Hall, was mayor of Dayton for five years before retiring beause of failing health in 1970. And Matt's uncle Sam (Tony's brother) was an Olympic diver, winning a silver medal in the 1960 games.
