Hans Gieskes

  Hans Gieskes became president and chief executive of Lexis-Nexis on Dec. 1, 1997 after the abrupt departure of his predecessor, Ira T. Siegel.
  Born March 28, 1954, Gieskes (pronounced GEES-kuss) has spent most of his career at Reed Elsevier plc, the Anglo-Dutch publishing company which is Lexis-Nexis' parent.
  Before taking the Lexis-Nexis position Gieskes served asvice chairman of the company's legal division. He was chief executive of Bonaventura, publisherof consumer and special-interest magazines in the Netherlands. He also worked for 12 years atElsevier Science in sales, technology and management positions.
